Join the APA as a Medical Student for Free!

As a medical student, the flexibility of exploring your passion in medicine is endorsed by many of the major specialty. The American Psychiatric Association is no exception. The swath of opportunities presented to the APA for medical students would leave one bewildered by the decision paralysis. Nonetheless, we hope joining the APA as a medical student will be the first step to eventually being part of our Society.

For those who are considering joining the American Psychiatric Association (APA), we wanted to provide instructions for you to opt-in to becoming a Medical Student member of SUSP. APA membership is free for Medical Students. Though Med Students are only eligible for APA membership at the national level, the application provides the option for you to opt-in to sharing information with SUSP. This will allow us to add you to our mailing list. Once you are accepted into a residency program, you will be given the opportunity to join SUSP as full members. We hope to see you on our team soon!

To Join the APA and opt-in to SUSP as a Medical Student:

  1. Review this page: https://psychiatry.org/membership/join-apa/medical-students
  2. Click Join Now to access the Medical Student Membership Application
  3. Towards the end of the first application page, check the box to Opt-In to sharing their information with their local DB.

SUSP Event Recordings Pertinent to Medical Students

This district branch takes pride in our educational events to our members and the psychiatric community at large. Because of the nature of being in the military and constantly having our members move around, we primarily do these events virtually. Luckily, this modality allows for recording, and ultimately sharing. Below are a selection from our ongoing SUSP Spotlight Series (S3) events that may pique your interest as a medical student. We hope you find them as a value added to your journey.
